MOOCs and CPD

Professional development has become increasingly digitised. The purpose of this project was to explore how participants learning was supported in 2 MOOCs in the field of physical education and youth sport coaching.

The 2 MOOCs involved over 13,000 participants from 155 countries. Data were generated from semi-structured interviews and a survey with participants across both MOOCs.

MOOCs can have a positive impact on teachers and youth sport coaches learning and practices. 4 key features were identified that influence participants learning in MOOCs: establishing relevance, facilitating bridging, designing for personalisation and building community.
